Panel Spotlight: Aikido Demonstration

Aikido was founded by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969) who continued to develop it from the 1920’s until the end of his life. Since it emerged in the previous century, it may be seen as a modern interpretation of Budo. Bu-do (Bu means war or warrior and Do is path or way.) is used for martial arts in Japanese and means the way to war or the way of the warrior.

The NYU Poly Aikido Dojo was founded in Spring 2008 and since then its students have continued the practice under the guidance of Nobuyoshi Tamura Sensei and Nebi Vural Sensei. The Polytechnic Aikido Club will perform a martial arts demonstration that is based on the traditions and history of the samurai. This demo will involve both unarmed and weapons demonstration. Take a look below at a preview of what they will be showing off at SpringFestNY 2014.
